22/02/2009 at 22:22:27 HUM and FRY and a POKE in the EYE ACTION GROUPS AGAINST CELL PHONE SITES NZ NEWSLETTER 3 Weeks Ending Friday Feb 20 Monday Feb 2 MAJOR COCK-UP IDENTIFIED IN VODAFONE CONSENT FOR THE WAIHEKE BOWLING CLUB SITE David Rankin, Auckland City Council CEO, in his reply to questions posed to him by the Ombudsmen’s Office, points out a major cock-up. The planners identified the house next door to the Bowling Club would be adversely affected and in line with the provisions of the RMA sought written permission from the owners. However they cocked up and got written permission from the owners of the house across the road. This house was deemed not adversely affected by the planners which means: They did not meet the provisions of the RMA and as such the consent must be invalid! We are pursuing this via official channels. Thursday Feb 5 Received a copy of the guarantee the Titahi Bay team presented to Telecom of which Telecom would not sign. A copy of the guarantee is at the bottom of this newsletter Saturday 7 I put together the Objectives we require from our Working Party and send it to our Community Board representatives and our Councillor. It includes the guarantee. Email me if you’d like a copy. In a nutshell: If the towers are safe then Telecom and friends should sign a guarantee. If they won’t sign then the towers don’t go ahead. Simple. Tuesday 10 Three good websites Mast Sanity:
